This is a highly collectible item for the gramophone enthusiast, an early HMV Victor Talking Machine Co. 200 Needle Tin Box (no needles). Emile Berliner invented the gramophone in 1887, replacing the phonograph, and was co-proprietor of The Gramophone Co. which was The Victor Co. in America. This is an American tin, with no copyright (only patent), and with beautiful paint depicting Berliner's Company's trademark, a dog hearing his master's voice on a gramophone. The trademark was taken from a painting by F. Barraud and on this item you can still see the detail on the gramophone including the company name, Victor. The bottom of the box suggests, "For best results, use needles but once." In good shape for the age and the material, you can see from the pictures that there are some chips on the paint and a dent on the bottom. Overall though, the picture is in fine condition and has one of the best color schemes out there. Combined shipping available.
