French composer (1822–1884) who won the Prix de Rome in 1844. Exceptional presentation musical manuscript on four sides of two adjoining 9 x 11.25 musically-lined pages. Titled at the top, “Basse donnée. Concours de 1840. 1er prix,” Masse pens 100 detailed bars of music, signing at the conclusion, “Victor Massé-a son Ami E. Batiste.” Scattered light toning and soiling, as well as overall light edge wear, otherwise fine condition.
