Nameplate with FRIDTJOF NANSEN below, at sides LANDED IN NEW YORK OCTOBER 23, 1897. Signed V.D.BRENNER. (The slanted middle stroke on the B, seen here and on other Brenner pieces in this sale, is characteristic of the Brenner signature and an aid in identifying genuine 1909 VDB and 1909-S VDB cents.)
