The Finding of Moses
22 3/4" x 41 3/4" (Gold Leaf Framers) Frame: 29" x 47"
In the Old Testament Book of Exodus, Pharoah decreed that all babies of Hebrew should be killed. Moses’ mother wrapped him in bullrushes and set him afloat on the Nile, where he was discovered and saved by the richly-dressed Pharoah’s daughter. In this depiction, Pharoah and her attendants are dressed in Inca royalty garments and her nobility is underscored by the presence of a young black servant in her retinue.
