Vicar of Wakefield Porcelain Figurine
A porcelain character figurine titled Vicar of Wakefield, attributed to the Rubin Collection and potentially associated with Wedgwood production. The figure represents Dr. Charles Primrose, the central character from Oliver Goldsmith's 1766 novel. The figure is depicted in 18th-century attire consisting of a metallic gold-toned glazed frock coat, a pale yellow waistcoat, and reddish-brown breeches. The face, hands, and hair feature a matte bisque finish. He stands in an oratorical pose with one hand raised and the other holding a small golden object. At his feet is an open crate containing several small white circular objects. The circular base is decorated with a gilded band and the title VICAR OF WAKEFIELD printed in black lettering. The underside of the base retains a circular silver and black foil label for the RUBIN COLLECTION.
