Very unusual and possibly unique pair of Royal crested pinfire double rifles signed in gold “C. Berger in Tirnau” on the ribs between the barrels. The rifle’s measure 39” overall with 23 ½” barrels of approximately 62 caliber or about 14mm. The rifles show very high quality with precise scroll engraving and game scene engraved actions in the Germanic style. The barrels show a raised Damascus pattern that is accomplished by etching and chasing with an engraving tool. The tang showa large initial C with 7 pointed crown indicating a high-ranking Royal personage probably a prince or king. The butt plates are nicely engraved and show a trap made to contain 3 pinfire rounds. The pair have a set trigger on each front trigger andthe quality of the fine line engraving is excellent with beautiful panels between scrolls. The actions are of the under lever type. There is considerable border gold inlay. The guns are stocked in select grain fancy Walnut. Thecondition is near fine with some slight discoloration to bright metal finish and minor erosion most of which would clean. These fine quality pair of pinfire double rifles probably came out of the armory or gun cabinet of a castle
