Very rare Colt SAA revolver, .44 S&W Russian cal., 5-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #67914 in overall fine condition showing considerable original blue on barrel, ejector rod housing and straps; traces of mutedoriginal blue finish in flutes of cylinder, several areas of original case colors on frame and considerable original case colors on hammer; crisp action, fine bore, fine grips with majority of original finish, “R 44” marked on left fronttrigger bow; accompanied by three factory letters dated April 2, 1959, Nov. 4, 2005 and Sept. 6, 2013 confirming caliber, barrel length and blue finish with type of stocks “Not Listed”; Special Notation on last two letters is “Pruss.”; allletters note shipment to Colt’s London Agency, London, England, shipped May 26, 1881, 12 guns in shipment. The 1959 letter also notes: “The revolver listed above appears to be a genuine COLT and the reason the Colt trade-mark is not stamped on the frame was due to the fact that we did not start stamping the Colt trade-mark on the Single Action models until about 1891 or 1892”.
