Very interesting European Brevette of 1851 Navy, barrel stamped address “Sam’l Colt New York City” with reverse Colt Patent marking at breech. Rolled naval scene with Colt’s patent marking on cylinder and marked “Engraved by WL Ornsby New York”. Serial #18218. The Navy is .36 caliber percussion, 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, with close styling to Navy except more round trigger guard, slimmer grips, European styling to top of hammer, and other slight configurations that are close but not exact copy of the Navy. The revolver shows Belgian proofs on barrel and cylinder. The left side of the frame is marked Colt’s Patent. The barrel retains approx. 50-70% original blue drifting to brown, with many small nicks, slight erosion, and pinprick pitting where finish has lifted. Some slightly heavier pitting on front of rammer. The frame shows traces of case hardening going to silvery grey. The cylinder has been lightly cleaned to grey long ago and shows most of its original scene. The grips are good to very good with some small nicks and mars. The barrel, frame, and trigger guard are all matching. The buttstrap was never numbered. The action is good,
