Spencer Repeating Saddle Ring Carbine This is a very rare Springfield Armory model, carrying  Civil War serial number range, the three groove rifling and "ESA" stock cartouche indicative the same ammunition to be used as the Model 1865 carbines. It has the standard markings and features. Many of these carbines saw hard use by the U.S. Cavalry in the Civil War and the Indian Wars. Spencers are also known to have been used by both allied and hostile Native American factions, including at the Battle of Little Bighorn. Mechanically in very fine condition. As many combat pieces it is missing the stabler cut-off forward of the trigger. A nice hisoric piece, rarely found with Springfield markings. Obviously used after the way in the Western frontier by the U.S. Cavalry.Â
