Very Scarce Colt Bisley Flattop Target Model Revolver in .455 Eley with London Proofs
Produced in 1896, this is one of 976 Colt Bisley Flattop Target Revolvers made in any caliber, and one of only approximately 196 chambered for the 455 Eley. Equipped with an adjustable blade front sight and a V-notch drift adjustable rear sight, along with a special order knurled trigger and the distinctive wide hammer and humpback grip profile. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped "COLT'S P.T. FA. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.", the left side is marked "(BISLEY MODEL) 455 ELEY." and the underside is stamped "45", with a set of "crown/ V" and "crown/ GP" London proofs. The left side of the frame is stamped with the Colt "three-date/two-line" patent markings and the encircled Rampant Colt trademark, with "78" on the loading gate, "s" and a matching partial serial number on the rear of the cylinder, and London proofs in the flues. Matching numbers on the frame, grip straps and the inside of the checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt grips.

Condition: Very good, with 80% of the original blue finish. The barrel has turned a brown patina with traces of blue, with the other components showing light spotting and patches of brown, and some light handling marks overall. Bright, fiery blue remains on the hammer, screws, and trigger. Grips are excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. This is a fine example of a scarce, limited production Colt Bisley Flattop Target Model revolver.
