Most likely the work of a 19th Century Frontier Gunsmith. No visible makers marks and two striking similarities to the Jonathan Browning Harmonica rifle, the five-round chamber bar and brass receiver. German silver blade front sight and notch rear sight, with "2" on the upper right flat. The brass frame is marked "2" on the right side, with a long back action, matching iron side plate, replacement hammer and thumb plate. Smooth straight grip stock, with a wooden ramrod, pewter forend cap, cheek piece, brass crescent buttplate, and round patch box. There are only a handful of these period altered/repaired Browning style Harmonica rifles known to exist.

Serial Number: 2
Condition:
Fair, with a dark brown patina overall, scattered handling marks and some oxidation on the lock, hammer, chamber bar, and trigger guard. The brass has an aged patina. The wood is fair with cracks, chipped absent wood, scratches and dents. Mechanically needs work. A very interesting Browning style Harmonica rifle.
