Very fine. The blade has crisp etching; wear is limited to some minor discolored spots near the tip and several nicks in the edge. The hilt retains about 50% of the original silver-plated finish wit some scattered discoloration on the knuckle bow and quillion. The grip has about 85% of the black painted finish and the SS emblem has finish wear on the high points. The wire wrap is loose at the SS emblem. The scabbard is in very good condition with approximately 85% of the black enamel finish and minor scratch marks and scuff marks. The silver-plated drag and throat are in fine condition. This is an extremely rare, totally original example of a Nazi SS officer's sword with named Damascus blade.
