Akbar (AH 963-1014/1556-1605 AD), Fathpur Mint, Gold Mohur, AH 986, Obv: Arabic legends, The Kalima Shahada within a foliated border, the four Caliphs' names in the margins, Rev: Persian legend "Jalal ud din Muhammad Akbar Badshah Ghazi" & "zarb Fathpur" completely visible at the bottom within a foliated border, 10.90g, 21.27mm, (KM # 110.1), test mark, struck in high relief, attractive, about extremely fine, Very Rare.
Note: In AH 976, Akbar founded Fathepur Sikri and moved his capital here from Agra. This place served as Akbar's capital from 1571 to 1585. This was also the adobe where the famous Saint Sheikh Salim Chishti lived, who was greatly revered by Akbar and after whom Jahangir was named. From AH 985 to AH 989, the mint operated for a brief period, and coins in all metals were produced. Coins made of gold, both square and round, are relatively rare. It is a one-year type that was only issued in AH 986 (1577 AD).
