Manufactured late in 1892 and inspected by U.S. Ordnance in 1893 as the first army contract for D. A. Colt revolvers. The top of the barrel is roll stamped with the Hartford address above the 1884 and 1888 patent dates with "COLT. D.A. 38" on the left side of the barrel. The butt is marked "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1892/No./4067". The matching serial number is stamped on the underside of the barrel, inside of frame, on the crane, rear face of cylinder, cylinder release and butt. There are "R.A.C." inspection marks on the underside of the barrel, rear face of the cylinder, left side of the frame and butt of left grip. Fitted with a pair of smooth walnut grips with "1893/DMJ" cartouche on left grip and "RAB" cartouche on right grip.

Condition: Very fine, 75% original blue finish with a smooth gray/brown patina on the grip straps, high edges, cylinder and muzzle. There is some scattered minor pin point pitting. The grips are also very fine with some scattered scratches and nicks with fine cartouches. Mechanically fine. U.S. Colt Model 1892 Army Revolvers are rare in any condition!
