Very Fine and Desirable Vickers Ltd. Model 1906 Dutch Contract Luger Pistol

This is a scarce Luger variation that was manufactured by the Vickers Ltd. Company in England for the Netherlands. There were approximately 10,000 manufactured in the 1915-17 time frame. However they are very rare today as they saw considerable use in the Far East in the British colonies, with most in terrible condition and almost all being arsenal refurbished during the 1925-1933 time frame. The pistol has a blank chamber area with the front toggle link stamped "VICKERS/LTD" in two lines. The left side of the barrel extension is stamped with the "Crown/W" Dutch Wilhelmina proof and both sides of the extractor are marked "GELADEN" with the safety area marked "RUST". The top of the barrel is not dated (although the frame is with "C/16" for 1916 on the right side of frame) and the underside of the barrel is stamped with "Crown/V", "Crown/GP" and small "NP" British Nitro proofs, along with the pistol serial number and the same British "Crown/V" proof on top of the breech block and front toggle. A brass plate was correctly soldered to the left side of the frame that has been stamped "Mgd. Tmi./251". Since this is a 1906 style pistol there is no stock lug, it is fitted with a grip safety and it has the original coarse checkered walnut grips that are numbered "6982" on each grip. It is fitted with one original nickel plated magazine with an unmarked wooden base, that has the distinctive small spring clip on the rear of the wooden base.

Very fine overall with 85% of the arsenal blue finish showing minor wear on the edges and high spots that has dulled overall and is mixed with some minor brown patina/spotting on the finish. The various small parts retain 15% of their straw colors. A very nice example of an original Vickers Ltd. Model 1906 contract Luger with all matching parts, the correct magazine as noted and an unnumbered firing pin.
