This is a very fine example of a Winchester Model 1873 rifle that was manufactured in 1889. The rifle has a blue finish with color casehardened hammer, lever and crescent buttplate. The straight grain black walnut stock and forearm have a low-luster oil finish. The receiver has the Third Model integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrated edges. The round barrel has a sporting style front sight with nickel silver blade. A blank is fitted in the rear sight dovetail and a folding combination rear sight is mounted on the tang. The tang sight base is marked "Pat. May 6/84". The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line legend "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING-ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT./KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29.1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860." ahead of the rear sight dovetail. The top of the barrel just ahead of the receiver is stamped with the caliber designation: "32 W.C.F.". "32 CAL" is stamped in script letters on the bottom of the cartridge elevator. The serial number, "325281B" is stamped in script numerals on the lower tang behind the lever latch.

Stock: walnut
Gauge: 32 WCF
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 325281B
Condition:
Very fine. The rifle retains 85% plus of the original blue finish. The first eight inches of the barrel have several minor spots of age discoloration and surface rust. The balance of the barrel and magazine have nearly all of the original blue finish intact and show minimal wear. The forearm cap and receiver have 95% or more of the original blue finish. Wear on the receiver is limited to some very minor finish loss on the edges of the side plates and a few very minor handling marks. There is some minor finish loss on the edges of the dust cover. The hammer and lever retain 90% of the case colors. The case colors on the crescent buttplate have faded to a mottled gray patina. The stock and forearm are in excellent condition with a few minor handling marks and retain more than 90% of the original oil finish. The barrel markings are crisp. This is a very fine original example of a Winchester Model 1873 Rifle.
