The Model 1885 was put into production in mid to late-1886 and it is estimated that 5,500 Model 1885 Rifles were produced before production ceased in April 1887. The left receiver wall on this rifle is stamped with the 1879 patent date and the upper left receiver flat is stamped with the two line Remington maker's marking followed by the serial number. The rear sight has a base graduated from 1 to 5 and a leaf graduated to 12. "U" marked barrel bands with the front band having a sling swivel. The thumb piece or cocking piece is round with serrations on top. Mounted on a smooth straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. Two magazines (one magazine is a cut away) and a combination tool are included with the rifle. Both magazines have two grooves.

Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 85% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina with some light spotting. The stock is excellent with some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
