Manufactured from 1863 to 1875, the New Model Army Civilian revolver represented the last of Remington's 44 caliber percussion revolvers with a total of 132,000 manufactured.. The top barrel flat is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858/E.REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. NEW YORK. U.S.A/NEW-MODEL". The matching serial number is marked on the left side of the frame under the grip and on the bottom barrel flat. There are single letter "W", "P" and "J" inspection marks on most major parts. Pinched front sight and grooved top strap for the rear sight. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and silver plated brass trigger guard, and fitted with smooth varnished walnut grips with a sharp boxed "GP" cartouche on the lower left side.
BBL: 8 inch octagon
Stock:
Gauge: 44 percussion
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 92829
Condition:
Very fine. The revolver retains 80% plus original blue finish with loss due to flaking, and showing a smooth brown patina on the exposed areas. Most finish loss is on the barrel and cylinder. The hammer retains almost all of the original case colors. The trigger guard has a pleasant aged patina with hints of the dark original silver plating in protected areas. The grips are near mint with only a couple tiny dings on the lower edges and a sharp cartouche. The revolver appears to be un-fired. Mechanically excellent. This is an outstanding as-issued example of a Remington New Model Army Revolver.
