This is a very fine early production DWM Model 1900 American Eagle commercial Luger pistol. These pistols were the first true commercial contract Luger pistols manufactured by DWM and can be found in the 2,000-20,000 serial range. These pistols were intended for sales in the U.S. market, hence the use of the American Eagle symbol on top of the chamber area. This pistol has all the early desirable Luger features, such as the early long frame dished toggles, toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered barrel, grip safety and no stock lug, with this one having the hold-open device added later on. Additionally this pistol has the high-domed,second pattern thumb safety lever with the heavier cross-checkered pattern. These early Lugers have the beautiful pre-war high polish rust blue finish with the straw colored small parts with checkered walnut grips. The lower safety area is unmarked and left with the bright polished. It is correctly serial numbered in the commercial fashion with the full serial number on the front of the frame and the underside of the barrel. The front of the frame is also correctly marked "GERMANY". It is complete with one magazine with the nickel plated body and the unnumbered wooden base.

Very fine with 75% faded original blue finish. Wear on the edges and high spots overall such as the muzzle and side plate with blue loss and minor oxidation on the front and rear grip strap. Straw colors remain 40% intact. The moderately worn grips are fine with nice distinct original checkering showing minor wear across the tops of the checkering. Mechanically excellent.
