Harold marks was born in Tehran, Iran in 1952. Harold Marks legally known as Hershel Markovitch started painting at the age of 14 years old. He was encouraged in his progression by his parents and inspiring teachers throughout his early childhood. Later he studied art at the University of Jundi Shapur in Iran where he won awards for illustration. Originally, he began honing his craft as a portraitist before specializing in landscape painting. At the age of 15, his mother suddenly passed away. The loss greatly impacted his father, both emotionally and practically so his father chose to move the family to Hamburg, Germany and then onto to Avignon, France and finally settled in Sicily, Italy where Harold showed his art along with his friend Mario Cinnelli at one of the local galleries in town. He has shown his work in a few small galleries throughout Italy, US, and Tehran where he still has some family ties. Harold is inspired by Rembrandt and Matisse, and his paintings show his passion of nature and the ability to understand composition. Harold's job is capturing moments of time so people can visually be part of his life experiences. He used to work in restaurant jobs and save all his money so he could travel. Now he has found the ideal job by following his lens around the world. In his early days of getting work published, he was very secretive about naming such beautiful locations. His work has evolved dramatically over the years. Harold feels his life is more exciting than ever as he grows with his wife and two children Xander and Allegra.
