24" long x 8" wide x 5 1/2" deep, Vega Co. of Boston, bowl back mandolin, approx. 1913 to 1925, spruce top, mahogany neck, bowl is rosewood with contrasting wood inlay and Ivory trim, rosewood headstock veneer, contrasting binding with highly detailed inlaid purling, rosette & tortoise shell pickguard with abalone inlay in the shape of a butterfly. Ebony fretboard with Mother of Pearl fret markers, tooled and plated tuner cover. Plays well and in good condition, missing a corner of the pick guard, a split just below the guard, and top of the headstock is cracked. Leather case shows wear.
