When reproduced as a black and white poster on heavy card stock in 1971, this image was named "Lizard Machine Gun Nest." Known to produce very few all-color paintings in his lifetime, spectacular Bode efforts such as this one seldom change hands. Inversion paintings like this are created in the same manner as an animation cel in that the painting is actually done on the back side of the piece. There are some faint water spots in the upper left, and a small scratch on the middle right, but this is a very presentable and attractive original painting by one of the biggest names in underground comix. With an image area of 22" by 28", this large colorful piece would brighten any room. <B>Estimate: $5,000-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
