Artus Van Briggle joined Rookwood 1887 and studied in Paris under Rookwood sponsorship from 1893 until 1896. In 1899 he moved to Colorado for his health and established his own pottery in Colorado Springs in 1901. He died in 1904. Anne Van Briggle continued the pottery until 1912. The earliest dated pieces are the most sought after.
This piece is of newer vintage, probably between 30 & 50 years ago, 11 1/2" tall, 6" in diameter, turquoise with incised mark, as shown, there is a tiny spot on the bottom that appears to have been a drip in the glaze and was chipped or filed off. (2 1/2)
