Van Johnson Personal Star Party Photos
Van Johnson Personal Star Party Photos - It's rare that someone gets to feel as if they have entered the opulent world of a Hollywood that is gone forever, and will never return. The glory days of the 1930's to the 1950's, when the stars were our royalty, and their lives literally were as much a fantasy as the movies they made. That is the case with this amazing set of original large photos from the personal collection of major star Van Johnson. Having become a top box office attraction in the 1940's, the almost impossibly good looking "boy-next-door" with the perfect hair and teeth, and the instantly likable personality, ruled the town. And after his marriage to the equally beloved Evie (who he seduced away from his best friend Keenan Wynn), the two were the toast of the town, what with their legendary parties, and trips around the world to see the most famous of the globe. Specially selected from his prized photos are these personal pictures taken at their various famous parties. They include Van and Evie with their guests, Joan Crawford, Burt Lancaster, Lana Turner, Peter Lawford (including one with a special inscription and signature), Eddie Fisher, Martha Raye, and an audience with the Queen of England. Also included are special family photos, including Ed Wynn, Keenan, and his two sons around a birthday cake, Van with Mickey Rooney (who he had just starred in the classic "The Human Comedy"), a very rare photo of the cult and tragic character actor Laird Cregar, and a special photo of Van Johnson's daughter Schuyler (in her bare feet!), shaking hands with the Beatles at Allen Livingston's home in 1964, (who brought them to Capital Records, and was about to present them at the Hollywood Bowl). The set of 11 photos come directly from Van Johnson's personal collection, and includes a Letter of Provenience from the Johnson’s daughter, Schuyler Johnson along with a copy of her famous controversial cover story article “My Life As A Hollywood Princess”, about her trials and tribulations growing up in Beverly Hills with a superstar father and extended “family” with some of the most famous celebrities in the world.
