Painted to depict a surrealistic landscape with figures and structures in the modern style of heavy impasto. Van Hoople, (1934-), California artist born in Chicago, attended the University of Texas and worked for Paramount Studios in Hollywood, and apprenticed for Cecil Demilles and scene director P.T. Blackburn. He was under exclusive contract to Hillside Galleries starting in 1957. His works have received notable recognition throughout the U.S. Signed LL.
