American poet (1879–1931) whose employment of midwestern themes earned him the sobriquet ‘Prairie Troubadour.’ Proof of one of Lindsay’s illustrations for his work The Village Improvement Parade on the reverse of an 8 x 5 Hartman Printing Company file card, signed as the recipient in pencil, “Vachel Lindsay,” dated December 3, 1931. Moderate scattered soiling, toned tape and trivial surface loss to the bottom edge, and a date stamp over most of his last name, otherwise fine condition. Crushed by financial stress and ill health, Lindsay committed suicide just two days later on December 5, 1931.
