Willette was a successful painter when in 1887 switched to drawing, lithography and poster design. He became a frequent contributor to satirical publications such as "Le Rire" and "Chat
Noir", even founding three of his own magazines as well as being one of the founders of "Les Humoristes".

This charming sepia-toned poster for an exhibition of art for children exhibits Willette's skill as an illustrator in many of the small details and nuanced 'objets'.

Willette, Adolph l. (1857-1926)
