<b>196. FRANCISCO "PANCHO" VILLA</b> (1878 - 1923) Mexican revolutionary originally siding with Carranza and the Constitutionalists, later breaking with him and occupying Mexico City with Zapata. After fleeing north, Villa ordered punitive raids against the U.S. against which American troops entered Mexico in an unsuccessful search for the band. Assassinated. T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., Estacion Rosario, Dec. 9, 1920 in Spanish. The revolutionary writes a letter of recommendation, in part: <i>"...I have the pleasure to tell you that the farm tractor machine "Cletrac" I have used on this ranch with excellent results and I am satisfied with its functioning. I advise you of this fact for your satisfaction..."</i> Boldly signed "Francisco Villa". Pinholes at fold junctures, archivally repaired partial fold splits, some toning, yet overall very good. <b>$1,500-2,000</b>
