Victorian openwork iron footstool with figural hand stiched needlepoint cover. Both stool and tapestry originally made in the 1800's, but possibly didn't start out together.
Measurements: 14 width 10 1/2 depth X 8 1/2 inches height.
The skeleton of the stool is made of heavy old iron in a high Victorian scrolling openwork pattern. Iron is painted gold.
The stool is upholstered with a soft grey-pink hand-stitched needlepoint tapestry, the center depicting a Victorian woman holding a parason, dressed in a wonderfully patterned dress. Fabulous fine detail to the flowers and hearts and shades and tones that constitute the clothing and parasol.
There is minor roughness of the wool around the figure, seen if you look closely, but does not bother/detract from the pretty hand work.
Please note: this item is very heavy.
