Bbl. is marked on left side above gas cyl. w/ “NM”. Throat & muzzle gauge 1.0. Adjustable aperture rear sight. Blade front sight w/ wide protective ears. This rifle exhibits the correct features for a national match rifle as produced in 1962 & 1963. The receiver is marked on the forward right leg “SA 2-54” “PJL” “NM” “JFH” “2/64” “S.A.” & partially legible “1005-726-6476”. Bottom of bolt has matching “2232” in white. Operating rod marked “7790722-RA”. Trigger housing is marked on left side “S.A.” “2-6?” “NM 2232”. Stock is marked in bbl. channel “2232” & “NM” in white. Operating rod, gas cyl. & rear sight parts are marked “NM”. Front sight marked “NM” & “.062. Bbl., bolt, trigger housing & safety marked “SA”. Hammer is marked “5546008-HR-N”. Stamped trigger guard. High hump gas cyl. lock & cross slot gas cyl. lock screw. Matching walnut stock set w/ original finish. Boxed defense eagle acceptance stamp on left side. Circle “P” proof under grip. Stock has professional arsenal type glass bedding in the action area. Front handguard shows bedding between it & lower band. Tan leather sling marked “MRT” “APR. 1977”. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 6-1/2" blade M5A1 bayonet marked on front of crossguard “U.S. M5A1” & marked w/ electro pencil on left side of blade “06849-S”. Black checkered plastic grips. Green plastic scabbard marked “U.S. M8A1” & “MADE IN W. GERMANY”. Bayonet has been sharpened. Blade turning gray in patina. Crossguard is slightly loose. Grips have light wear & handling marks. Scabbard in good serviceable condition w/ light wear. CONDITION: stock set has light wear & scattered handling marks w/ notable spots of thin finish on right side of butt. Handguards are in very good condition. Metal retains very lg. degree of original Springfield quality arsenal refinish condition w/ very light wear & scattered handling marks.
