VERY RARE AND DESIRABLE FRANK RICHTIG FIGHTING

KNIFE. Master knife maker Frank Richtig produced his famously tempered knives from 1927-1977. His knives were featured in Ripley's Believe It or Not for their ability to cut through bolts & railroad spikes. They reputedly were carried & used by the members of the 82nd & 101st airborne divisions & were owned by such high ranking notables as U.S. Army Generals Patton, MacAurther & Eisenhower & also President Roosevelt along w/ Admiral Nimitz. This desirable knife is accompanied by this original sheath. The 7 15/16" bowie blade is unmarked. The knife has a brass double cross guard. Leather, washer handle w/ red & black spacers. Brass pommel with steel lanyard loop. Pommel is marked at rear "F.J.R.CLARKSON NEB.". Brown leather sheath is marked at top of belt attachment "ALFRED CORNISH OMAHA, NEB.". Tooled leather sheath has white stitching & bright metal reinforcing rivets. CONDITION: knife blade has wear & scattered spots of peppery oxidation. Sm. areas on right side of blade w/ defined edges similar to blood pitting. Blade has been lightly sharpened. Brass cross guard in pommel have pleasing dark patina w/ light wear & scattered handling marks. Makers name is fully legible. Leather washers show age darkening w/ light wear. Lanyard loop has been lightly dented at end. Sheath has light wear & staining w/ tight stitching & scattered handling marks. Retaining strap has flexing & scuffing but snap is functional.
