KUNZITE)</B></I><BR> <I>Konar Valley (Kunar Valley), Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan</B></I><BR>The pink to lilac colored variety of gem spodumene is known as kunzite, named after the famed mineralogist, George Kunz who first discovered this exotic gemstone. Kunzite is formed occasionally in conjunction with gem tourmaline and aquamarines and is found high in the rugged mountains of Afghanistan. This exceptional specimen is an unusually large and well formed crystal of gem kunzite with an excellent knife shaped termination. It has an intense pink-lilac coloration and is in fine condition.
