PERCUSSION RIFLE. Cal. 58. NSN. Standard configuration of popular Civil War brass mounted rifle w/ 33" rnd. bbl. having "VP"/eagle head proofs & "1863" date on bbl. tang, two cartouches on stock "BH" (Benjamin Hannis) & "HDJ" (Henry D. Jennings) plus sub inspector marks found on most every metal piece. Bbl. inspected "RDA" (Renick K. Arnold) & marked “STEEL”. CONDITION: very fine overall. Bbl. retains 95% original thinning blue. Lock & hammer retain approx. 80% of their muted case colors w/ balance silver/gray. Brass is smooth & very good overall w/ light mustard patina. Stock is sound & solid, sharp edges & crisp cartouches, scattered sm. storage dents & dings. Mechanics are excellent w/ bright shiny crisp rifled bore. (01-17448/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-4,000.
