BORE BOXLOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN BY ARTHUR TURNER WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2". S# 13951. The dovetailed 26" bbls. are gold inlaid "FOR 2 INCH CASE ONLY" on narrow matted Churchill rib. Tops of bbls. engraved "Arthur Turner" (late Maleham & Co.) (circa 1920-32). Bbl. flats stamped w/ Birmingham nitro proofs for 2" chambers & 7/8 oz. of shot. Importers info is on splinter (Woodcock Hill). Case hardened dbl. ogee backed boxlock action features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold) & dbl. triggers. Action engraved w/ about 80% coverage well cut varying size scroll within sm. scroll borders. "Arthur Turner" is in arched ribbon on each side. Blued top lever, floorplate & trigger guard engraved w/ matching scroll & S# is on trigger guard tang. Straight grip buttstock is of strikingly fiddle figured & nicely marbled flesh-tone European walnut & measures 14 1/2" over black leather covered pad. Point pattern checkering w/ mullered borders is at grip & vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: bbls.: bore diameter: right: .730", left: .731". Restriction: right: .001" (CYL), left: .010" (IC). Minimum Wall Thickness: right: .020", left: .019". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/16". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 14 1/2". CAST: approx. 3/8". WEIGHT: 5 lbs. 5 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun housed in a relatively new English VC case w/ stitched leather corners. Interior lined in burgundy cloth & has reproduction Arthur Turner label in lid. Case contains a pair of plastic snap caps & a key. CONDITION: very fine as tastefully & completely restored, most likely in London & retaining nearly all of these fine custom finishes w/ only some silvering of bottom of action & considerable silvering of trigger guard tang. There are a few subsequent marks on stocks, checkering has been cleaned w/ some recutting of borders. Bores are bright & shiny w/ a fairly lg. but shallow dent on side of right bbl. about 10" behind muzzle. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are in time. Case leather is very fine w/ a few minor marks. Handle is very fine. Interior cloth is fine w/ soiling & marks from contact w/ bbl. (21-4003/MGM). CURIO. $2,250-3,500.
