VERNON DUKE (1903-1969), American composer/songwriter, who also wrote under his original name, Vladimir Dukelsky.
Important Musical Archive of Six (6) Vernon Duke Letters and Signed Quotation,which also includes Four (4) Autograph Letters Signed, (1) Typed Letter Signed and (1) Musical Quotation Signed. One of the major contributors to the “Great American Songbook,” Duke was best known for the songs, “Taking a Chance on Love,” “April in Paris,” “Autumn in New York” and “I Can’t Get Started.”

In this great Archive, the 1934-Dated Autograph Musical Quotation Signed, features four bars and lyrics from, “This is Romance!” Signed, “Vernon Duke,” 1 page, Quarto, measuring 7” x 9.5”, Choice Extremely Fine with some slight tone. Also included in this Archive is a December 18, 1947-Dated, Typed Letter Signed, 1 page, Quarto, 8.5” x 11”, at Paris, Choice Extremely Fine. It is written to Leonard Gershe and includes its original envelope of transmittal. Finally, (4) other Autograph Letters Signed are also included, two of which are undated, and the other two dating from 1953 and 1958. (6 items)
