VENEZUELA, 1 peso, 27-8-1811, serial F. 94 272938, block T. 273, PMG VF 30. Pick-4; Rosenman-1. Signatures of Bartolomé Blandin, Juan Germán Roscio, and Martín Tovar Ponte. A nice example of the highest denomination printed for the first issue of Venezuela paper money authorized by law of August 27, 1811. The independent First Republic of Venezuela had been declared just a month prior on July 5th. A central vignette featuring an anchor and tree between sailing ships bears the warning PENA DE MUERTE AL FALSIFICADOR "Death Penalty to Counterfeit." Nice paper quality and well printed with bold ink, only a few mounting spots on the back to note. Scarcely encountered at all and much rarer in as nice of a condition as this note.
