VAST ORIGINAL ARCHIVE OF PHOTOGRAPHER'S IMAGES BY JOHN REINE.
VAST ORIGINAL ARCHIVE OF PHOTOGRAPHER'S IMAGES BY JOHN REINE. Mostly glass plate framed, nude as well as dressed woman, as composed and taken by John Reiner. For many years Reiner was an instructor at the School of Modern Photographer, New York City, and contributed to the training and education of many photographers, wrote articles for magazines, and gave seminars. Included with the archive is a copy of "The Camera", November 1923, by Reiner, giving instructions on coloring photographs. While nude women were his specialty, Reiner also engaged in nature studies, some examples of which are included. In later years he operated a studio in Center Harbor, N.H. Included are approximately 150 glass slides and prints, and a collection of collateral material including programs, candid prints biographical snapshots, and more. Important to the offering is a typescript by Reiner on the art of photographing nude women, illustrated and with detailed descriptions. Reiner's work was featured at many exhibitions in New York City and elsewhere, and also as cover art on various magazines. The entire collection, from the Reiner estate, furnishes a rare and in-depth view of a photographer of women, circa 1930's through the 1950's, with much research interest as well as, stated simply fascinating to peruse and study. 9-90096 (2,000-5,000)
