VARLENIUS, Hieronymus.- Commentariorum libri tres in omnes psalmos Davidicos, in quibus [....]. Lovanii [ Louvain], Antonius Maria Bergagne, 1557. Pet. in-f° : [8]-263-[1] pp. (titre lég. défraîchi, très faible mouill. ou trav. de vers limité et margin. à qqs ff., deux coins déchirés sans manque de texte, perforation dans le texte p. 130, pagination irrégulière). Rel. de l'époque : plein parchemin à couture apparente et rabats, titre à la plume sur dos lisse (une incision sur chaque plat, qqs pet. taches, manque de papier à une garde).
Edition originale et rarissime impression louvaniste donnant les commentaires sur les psaumes de David par Verlenius ou Varlenius (1511-1589) qui faisait ses études à Louvain avant de devenir professeur des seigneurs de St Jean au couvent de Ste Catherine à Utrecht, puis vicaire à Haarlem à l'époque des troubles religieux. Titre orné d'une marque typographique répétée à la dernière page. Ouvrage dédié à Walter de Byler, chevalier de l'Ordre de Malte du bailliage d'Utrecht dont les grandes armoiries sur bois figurent au verso du titre.

Edition originale de cette histoire d'Utrecht pendant le règne de Henri de Bavière, le dernier évêque d'Utrecht. L'humaniste d'origine hollandais Lambert Hortensius (Montfoort 1500-1574 Naarden) faisait ses études e.a. au Collège des Trois Langues à Louvain, chez Rescius, Vives, et Palludanus.

Payment will be made in Euro's. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 EUR or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
