Vanity Fair Men of the Day No. 995, the great
playwright
George Bernard Shaw. This cartoon by equally celebrated wit
Max Berrbohm (signed Ruth) appeared December 28,
1905.
<p>Roy T Matthews describes the print in In Vanity
Fair

Beerbohm has sketched Shaw in the same manner
in
which Vanity Fair described him. With left arm akimbo
and legs crossed, eyebrows arched, teeth showing and finger
twiddling beard, Shaw ponders the clever retort. The
playwrights impish quality is apparent. Beerbohm has
lengthened Shaws head and legs, pushed out his tummy and
put him in slippers and suit --a deft touch of contrast.*
<p>The print is by rotogravure process and published by
Bemrose Dalziel, Ltd., for the Vanity Fair suppliment.

The caption reads:
Magnetic, he has the power to infect almost everyone
with the delight he takes in himself.
<p>Measures 10-1/2 x 15-1.2
<p>Very good condition. No creases, wrinkles, bumps or chips.
