American poet who toured the US reciting his poetry for board and lodging. Noted for their lyrical, powerful rhythms, among his best-known compositions are <i>General William Booth Enters into Heaven and Other Poems</i> (1913) and <i>The Congo and Other Poems</i> (1914). SP [Gullickson, DeKalb, IL], b/w, image 7"x9¼", overall 10"x13" outdoor portrait standing with an elderly lady, her hand resting on his, presumably his mother. Boldly signed beneath clear image on photographer’s mount, adding “<i>Oct 31, 1921 / Halloween</i>.” Mount evidences light soiling, light crease and bump at left edge; mounting remnants on verso; else VG/Fine.</span></p>

1. Auction Catalogue No. 19 is a Mail, Fax, Phone, Email and
Internet Live Bid Auction and is conducted under the laws of the State
of West Virginia by Gil Griggs, Licensee of Charleston, W. V. License
No. 002.
2. Absentee bid closing date is April 5th, 2002, 10:00 PM EST.
3. There is a 15% Buyer’s Premium charged on the final hammer price
of each lot. An additional 2½% Premium will be added to any lots
purchased through ebayliveauctions.com.
4. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid for any
reason.
5. The Auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw any lot for any
reason.
6. In the event of duplicate high bids, the earliest bid received
will be the winner.
