c1900 This is a lot that contains some very unique and one of a kind items related to the Virginia & Truckee Railway. Included is a boiler sight glass and a letter of authenticity. The heavy glass was used by the engineer or fireman to keep an eye on the steam versus water level in the boiler. It measures 8.”x 1.5” and is 0.5” thick. Other items in this lot include a printing plate used to print railroad passes for the line. Piece measures 4.5”x 2.75” and is made of lead. There is also a 1” section of rail, that appears to be a commemoration piece. It is stamped V&T RAILWAY 1869-1950 GORDON PEARL on one side and CARSON CITY NEVADA FROM ED. ZIMMER, on the other. Lastly, there is a hurricane lamp with a V&T plate attached (This is possibly a later addition). The brass lamp stands 12” and has a 7” diameter reflector shield. This is a really nice lot for V&T collectors. Provenance: V&TRR Superindenant Major Sampson to Reno Banker Gordon Harris. Gordon Harris Estate - HKA#65511
