This stock has so much going for it. It was issued in 1869. The first scheduled trip to Carson City would be 7 months later. It is stock number 22! There is a 25 cent Nevada Revenue stamp and a 25 cent US stamp. The stock was signed by President William Sharon. Sharon, as the Bank of California representative on the Comstock, became a very powerful figure and eventually created a monopoly controlled by a few. It is issued to Thomas Sunderland. Sunderland helped bring relief weapons and ammunition to Virginia City after the first Pyramid Lake massacre. In March of 1868 he was elected the first president of the V&T Railroad. In 1871 he would be responsible to obtain the right of way for the railroad from Carson City to Reno.1869
