Uwe Bremer, Painting ‘Question of the Cardinal Directions‘,´88
The oil painting ‘The Question of the Cardinal Directions’ by Uwe Bremer was part of the collection ‘Magic in Art’ by the magician Mr. Cox. The German painter and printmaker is known for his surreal compositions inhabited by grotesque figures and mythical creatures. Bremer creates his strange imagery from a structure of lines and shapes, combining geometry, ornaments and writing. Filled with wit and irony, his works never completely disclose themselves to the viewer, but continue to amaze with their strange peculiarities. Theme of this oil painting is the disclosure of the cardinal directions and planets and measuring devices appear in the composition.

The painting is titled lower right in the depiction ‘Zur Frage der Himmelsrichtungen’. The work is in very good condition with minimal traces of wear. The dimensions of the wooden panel are 170 x 125 cm, and the total dimensions are framed 174.5 x 129 cm.
