Jarvis of Washington D. C. Stereograph sold by Underwood & Underwood, Baltimore, Md.—Ottawa, Kas. The bottom of the card reads, “Indian Supply Train, Ute Pass, Colorado.” The photographer may have been Charles Weitfle of Central City. He was active in the area between 1878-85. Ute Pass is located on the North Slope of Pike's Peak. Ute Pass was first used by the Ute people as access between the prairies east of Pike's Peak and the Rocky Mountains. In 1860, the trail became a wagon road connecting Leadville to Colorado City. The Colorado Midland Railway was extended through the pass in 1888 providing access to mines and mountain towns.
