Ute toy cradle on native tanned hide with willow rod bonnet. Yellow ochre pigment on entire front, with traces of green and orange pigment. With beaded designs forming an arc or crown at the top in red, pink, green, yellow and two shades of blue on a white field. Beaded band at brow is red, yellow and two shades of blue, with a wonderful little scalloped beaded edge. Front features translucent beads with green and coral beads in a checked pattern, and a blue beaded edge. Loom beaded drops that include the initials “M E”. Fringe on back. Circa late 19th century, 31” long x 15 ½” wide at widest.
Condition: bead losses, clearly visible in images; the wood slat bonnet has significant breaks.
