"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Two letter-books containing period copies of letters, about 600 pages in total, written from Paris, France, by J.K. Smyth of Henderson Smyth & Co., dated 1858-1863. The letters give an insight into financial and business transactions between Europe and America just prior to and during the Civil War. Smyth writes of the architect Calvert Vaux building a house for him in New York (though he regrets it with the onset of the war), urban development in New York City, patriotic fever from the Civil War, etc. A treasure trove of history.
