Unusual double-action percussion revolver circa 1850’s marked Mangeot and Comblain, Brevettes and small circular stamped cartouche on rear flat of barrel. The barrel measures 12-1/2” overall with 6-1/2” medium to heavy weight barrel of approx. 11mm or .45 caliber, 5-shot cylinder, double-action, with interesting side-swing loading lever which activates the plunger in a caming mechanism by swinging side to side. Just too complicated and expensive to manufacture in quantity. The revolver shows traces of original blue drifted to grey brown, scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, good period light scroll engraving, the checkered wood grips are good with wear to the checkering with one large chip at left top of the frame. An old stamped lead collector’s tag “MBR” is attached, indicating possession of Martin B. Retting, an old time Los Angeles collector/dealer. From the Robert Petersen Collection. Est: $800 - $1,600
