Unusual continental large-bore percussion revolver, no maker’s markings, approx .52 caliber rifled barrel, or 12+mm, 12-1/2” overall, 4-7/8” round barrel, 5-shot round cylinder, steel barrel, frame, and cylinder, with cast German silver or Brittania type frame, serial #702. The pistol shows a rebrowned finish on the metal surfaces and some light cleaning and is missing the front sight. The wood grips have been inlaid with an American silver dime dated 1865 on right. There was another inlaid on left with imprint visible but now missing. An old collection tag #862 and is the type used by Harrold’s Club. The revolver is double-action and not quite working. There is a ramrod mounted on the left side of the rear barrel, and is released by a spring lever at the rear of the frame. The action shows a loading gate on the left side for capping. There is a spring mechanism mounted on the right side of the frame. The grips are slightly undersized and show wear and are missing their dime, which was inlaid long ago. A very interesting double-action percussion pistol which we would guess is German or Austrian, approx. 1850’s. From the Robert Petersen Collection. Est: $750 - $1,500
