<B>Very Unusual William McKinley and Fitzhugh Lee Jugate American Flag Mechanical Locket,</B></I> 1 3/8 (open) x 1 , brass with painted flag. The locket has McKinley, the Republican president, along side Fitzhugh Lee, the Confederate general and nephew of Robert E. Lee. Lee was consul-general at Havana in 1898 when he was called upon to deal with the diplomatic crisis following the destruction of the warship USS Maine. Upon the declaration of war between Spain and the United States, Lee re-entered the United States Army after a thirty-seven year absence. He was made a major general of United States Volunteers.
