Unusual European single-action percussion revolver, probably Austrian, approx. 9mm or .36 caliber. 6-shot percussion cylinder, blued finish, varnish wood grips, 13-1/2” overall, octagon barrel, engraved frame, stamped “Marendt” on right side of frame, with number “368” stamped on right front of frame and barrel. “766” on middle of frame, which is probably a model or patent number. Belgian and crown “U” proofs, which may be German. The pistol shows a side-mounted rammer which is affixed to the right side of the pistol. The pistol retains approx. 70-80% original blue that is still bright, flaking at the edges, drifting to a natural patina where the metal is exposed. There is some scratches and minor pinprick pitting, just beginning normal age. The varnish wood grips are near fine with a couple of minor storage marks in the varnish. The hammer shows its original bright finish. The action is tight, the interior shows almost no use. An “MBR” is attached to the trigger guard, indicating ownership by Martin B. Retting, one of California’s earliest and most recognized collectors/dealers. From the Robert Petersen Collection. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
